Flexographic printing mainly uses three types of ink: water-based ink, UV ink and organic solvent ink. Here's a closer look at the three inks:
Hydrating ink:
Ingredients: Water as the main solvent, water-soluble or water-dispersible resins as binder, greatly reduce the emission of volatile organic compounds.
Features: Environmental protection, complete elimination of some toxic substances to the human body's harmful effects and packaging pollution.
Uses: mainly used in paper, cardboard and other absorbent substrates, as well as corrugated paper, wrapping paper, newspapers and so on.
UV ink:
Ingredients: UV curing, contains special ingredients, such as light initiators.
Features: fast drying, strong adhesion, high high high curing efficiency, low energy consumption, no solvent emissions, suitable for high speed and high precision printing.
Purpose: This universal ink can be used for both paper and plastic printing. Over the years, it has been especially widely used in instrument packaging, with printing quality exceeding solvents and water-based inks. Organic Solvent Ink:
Ingredients: Volatile organic compounds as raw materials, containing alcohol-soluble polyamide resins, nitrocellulose and other polymers, as well as organic pigments, fillers, plasticizers, wax, etc..
Features: Vibrant colors, quick drying, excellent gloss, good flowability, strong adhesion. Alcohol-soluble ink is the least toxic solvent type of ink, will not corrode or damage flexographic printing plates.
Application: Mainly used in printing of plastic film, metal foils, etc.. About two-thirds of plastic inks use alcohol-soluble polyamide resins.
