Flexographic printing presses are mainly divided into three types: stacked, satellite and uniform. These types are determined by the layout of the printing equipment, which directly affects the performance of the machine, the quality of the printing, speed of printing and the range of applications. These three types are described in detail below:
Stacked Flexographic Press:
Features: Stack separate printing units on one or both ends of the main wall of the press or install separate color printing units on the rack. Each printing unit is rotated by gears mounted on the main wall.
Strengths:
Available in monochrome and polychrome. For web printing presses, double sided printing can be achieved by changing the transport path of the substrate or by using a roller.
There are many types of substrate, there is single-page paper, cardboard, corrugated paper and other hard materials, but also rolled materials, such as self-adhesive paper, newspapers and so on.
Afterprinting processing ability, printing equipment and processing functions can be flexibly configured to meet user needs, easy to operate and maintain. Suitable for short-run printing, this unit features multiple workstations and allows for versatility. Suitable for special printing products with short batch time, tight working time and numerous workstations.
It has the characteristics of standardization of parts, high versatility and high integration of production lines. Its advanced design includes tension, margin positioning and automatic control system registration.
Number of color groups: 1-8 colors are printable, but 6 are typical numbers.
Satellite Flexographic Printing Press:
Features: Each printing device is mounted between two wall panels and surrounds a regular impression cylinder. The substrate is printed in a register.
Strengths:
Multi-color printing is performed on a one-pass substrate with an accuracy ± 0.05 mmWave.
Direct gear drive ensures accurate registering of paper and film and provides a stable printing process, even without special control devices.
The structure is rigid and the performance is more stable. Applicable Applications: Suitable for stable products with large size, high precision and high flexible printing materials such as food packaging, daily chemical packaging and beverage labels.
Unit-Type Flexographic Printing Press:
Features: Made up of 4-8 separate, horizontally arranged printing units, driven by common drive shaft.
Strengths:
Advanced design, components standardization, generalization, high degree of product series. Most of the devices are equipped with tension automatic control, margin positioning and registration for high-speed, color printing.
Monochromatic and polychromatic printing is possible, and mono-or double-sided printing is possible by altering the substrate transport path or by using a flip boot.
Printing substrate a wide variety of cardboard, cardboard, corrugated paper and other rigid materials, as well as rollers, self-adhesive labels, newspapers.
The unit's multiple workstations and can be used for various purposes. Suitable for small batch, short delivery time, a variety of colors of special printing products. Easy to combine with subsequent processing, can be used with paint, varnish, hot stamping, die-cutting, perforation, coating and other post-printing equipment, forming a flexible printing pipeline.
According to the need, can be used with one or more gravure printing units or rotary screen presses, forming a composite printing line, to improve product safety and decorative effect.
Usage: Primarily used in printing of carton, trademark, label and sticker, is the main variety of flexographic printing in China.
